CPH:DOX x Absalon: Film & Debate

20:00

In partnership with the documentary film festival CPH:DOX, we invite you to an evening of film and debate about ‘the brown ballerina’ and the problem of pink tights and salmon-coloured pointe shoes.

The classical performing arts are filled with traditions, but is there even a place for classical dance in our modern world? Can traditions and history keep up with the times? Or is it time for a change?

Join us for a panel debate with Solo Dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet, Ryan Tomash, professional dancer and choreographer, Patricia Tjørnelund, and project manager and co-founder of Another Life Community, Sofie Westh, where we turn our focus on body ideals and examine the body as a weapon in the fight for representation in the performing arts. The conversation will be moderated by Aram Ostadian-Binai, founder and CEO of ‘The Soulfuls’ and creative DEI consultant. Presented in collaboration with Another Life Community and The Soulfuls.

After the debate, we watch the film ‘Swan Song’ together in Absalon’s large hall.

About the movie ‘SWAN SONG’:
A love sonata to ballet and to ‘Swan Lake’ with all that it entails of hard training, low self-esteem, dreams, racism, redemption and stubborn traditions that might be in a process of change.
