MAKE YOUR OWN TEXTILE WALL PIECE

Dive into the textile universe in Absalon, when we are making our own textile wall pieces.

You will learn simple techniques for decorating fabric with colours. Together we will attach your piece on a piece of wood so you can hang it on the wall. You can choose to draw on your fabric with fabric pencils or make a linocut that you can print directly onto the fabric.

The textile wall pieces are inspired by fabric banners that have played a huge role in the western art history. Both as a political tool when the unions were demonstrating or as a victory sign for the autonomous occupiers in the 1980’s Berlin. Banners are today a democratic tool used to create strong symbols or messages. 

In this workshop we will make our own textile pieces and give them a personal touch, with either symbols, decorative motives or something third.

You will come home with your own wall piece, ready to hang on the wall.

Our teacher 

Sofie Bové has a master in art history and works in different museums and institutions, teaching others about art history.
She is an artist herself and works alot with the visual interpretation of the witch and the monstrous body. Follow her work on @bovearts.

PRACTICAL INFO

We are in Tårnværelset on the 3rd floor. Take the stairs from the entrance. There is no elevator.

It costs 200 kr. The tickets can be bought on the page below. The tickets are non-refundable and can’t be changed to another date.
