DANCEHALL DANCE COURSE

In this course, we practice steps, techniques and movements to rhythms from Jamaica and well-known hits such as Sean Paul’s “Get Busy”, Natasja’s “Calabria”, and Shaggy’s “Bombastic”.

We start by learning basic techniques in female dancehall and work our way up through the course with steps and choreography. The teaching will emphasise female dancehall with whine (hip rotations), pops and steps from Jamaican dancers.

You don’t need any experience with dancehall or dance in advance. Everyone can join.

Dancehall is considered a reggae subgenre and is named after Jamaican dance halls. The music contains songs from the late 1970s and hits released today, including Rihanna’s “Work” and Drake’s “One Dance.”

About our teacher
Anna Martinsen has worked as a professional dancer for several years, both as a teacher, performer and coordinator. She has Hotstepper’s dance education in her back pocket and actively participates in the dancehall community in Denmark.

Oct.-Nov. – 6 weeks: from 2/10 – 6/11 – 450 kr.

Nov.-Dec. – 6 weeks: from 13/11 – 18/12 – 450 kr.

Room: ‘The club’ on the 1st floor

Wednesday 20.30-21.30

NOTE: Remember to bring indoor shoes for dancing and movement, as we cannot wear outdoor shoes in the club. Also, bring a water bottle and clothes you can move in.

The class will be taught in English if needed.
