Lancier in Salen

Lancier (Les Lanciers) is a traditional danish dance that we have danced since the 1900s. It is still danced at parties in high schools and other places, when it’s Galla time.

The dance was first danced by the nobility in France under Napoleon the 3rd and came to Denmark in the middle of the 19th century. The dance was originally a dance that the nobility danced to imitate the quadrille dances of the peasants. It is only in Denmark that the lancier is still danced, perhaps because it is such an entertaining dance that it is still popular.

Take a friend, neighbor or your high school crush under your arm or come alone and learn the most popular lancier rides. We will review tour 1 (La Dorset), 2 (The Compliment Tour), 3 (The Ladies’ Mill) and 5 (The Men’s Mill).

You do not need to have any prior knowledge of the dance. Connie Yndal will guide us safely and enjoyably through the steps while having fun. Anyone can join.
