Figure Drawing

Come and learn the basics of figure drawing in Absalon!

This course is for you if you would like to work on your drawing skills.
We’ll meet four times and step by step work on different topics for creating a wholesome figure drawing. You don’t need any experience to join this course, as long as you feel like working on your drawing skills.

Sunday the 10th of April – Movement
We will be talking about gesture drawing and how to get movement in a figure drawing. The different methods for getting movement in renaissance, baroque, and a few comic book styles will be shown. This will be with short poses and loose drawings.

Sunday the 17th of April – Volume
We will start to talk about drawing volumes by going cross axis over the gestures, how to draw through the figure and important anatomical points to help determine where specific volumes start and stop. This will all be done just with line.

Sunday the 24th of April – Rendering
We will learn about rendering; the process of putting down tone to make things look volumetric by light and shadow. This will include both in direct and direct light.

Sunday the 1st of April – The final touch
We will talk about how to use overlapping lines, rendering lines and simple wash tones to combine all the other days in a figure study, looking especially at the Baroque artists of Venice.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Four sundays from 11-13 in Tårnværelset
We have the paper and pencils you need. If you feel like using your own materials, feel free to do so.
