Spend five Tuesdays creating your own pottery set: a tea or coffee pot, cups with saucers, as well as a milk jug and a sugar bowl. You decide how it will look.
Our ceramicist will teach you modeling techniques, and you’ll have plenty of time to explore materials, shape, decorate, and color your pieces. Once the course is complete, your set will be fired and glazed, so you can take it home for tea parties in your own living room.
You will use techniques like “pinching,” coil building, and slab construction. Once you’re done shaping, you can paint patterns onto your clay creations with slip.
1st session (January 28): Coil Building
Make cups and saucers using coil technique.
2nd session (February 4): Slab Technique
Create a tea or coffee pot with a lid and spout using slab technique.
3rd session (February 11): Decoration
Decorate your pieces with colorful slip.
4th session (February 18): Create freely
Time for deepening your work and continuing with the techniques.
5th session (February 25): Glazing
Try glazing your clay creations and add color.
PRACTICAL INFO
Price: 1100 kr
The course runs over 5 Tuesdays, with each class lasting 3 hours. The price includes instruction, 3 kg of clay (with the option to purchase more clay), glazing, and firings. Anyone can join, regardless of pottery experience. Your clothes may get dirty.
The ceramics workshop is located on the 3rd floor of Folkehuset Absalon. There is no elevator. Our ceramicist will guide you and offer helpful advice, but we cannot guarantee that all clay creations will survive the firing process.
Note: Be sure to double-check the dates before purchasing your ticket, as there are both Wednesday and Saturday sessions! Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
