Come and join us when we meet to fix and give new life to our clothes!
Have you worn a hole in your jeans or spilled red wine on your favorite blouse and don’t know what to do?
In this workshop, we’ll work with basic techniques for clothing repair. By learning how to repair our clothes, we can give them a longer life, but also personality and perhaps greater meaning.
This time, we will focus on the Japanese sashiko embroidery technique, but of course, you are welcome to bring other projects, and the instructor will help guide you.
“Sashiko” means “small stitches,” referring to the characteristic patterns of small white stitches the size of a grain of rice. Traditionally, it was used to repair and strengthen clothing, but today, it is just as often used as a decorative element. The technique is fun and simple, and can be adjusted for different skill levels.
We encourage you to bring along any clothes from home that need repairing, patching, or just a little refreshing. However, it’s not a necessity to participate in the workshop, as you can practice the techniques on other fabrics.
We look forward to seeing you!
